Over the last 12 months, I've written lots of blogs about LinkedIn - what's fantastic about it, common mistakes and how to use it effectively. I haven't ever really delved into the one thing that keeps me engaged with the professionally-minded social media platform and that's having access to their LinkedIn Influencers. "a global collective of 500+ of the world's foremost thinkers, leaders, and innovators." As a Small Business Owner, I'm now responsible for my own ongoing professional development. It's essential I keep up with business trends and acquire the knowledge I need to keep driving the business forward. LinkedIn Influencers gives me access to thought leaders and topics across industries and areas of expertise, globally. You can follow: 1. Influencers to gain insights from industry leaders. The likes of Richard Branson, Arianna Huffington, Ann Handley, Naomi Simson and so many more provide regular posts. Their posts cover business and personal insights and provide an incredible opportunity to learn from proven business leaders. You can follow influencers that align directly with your business focus or perhaps following those from a totally different field will give you a different perspective. 2. Channels to review collections of articles and insights grouped by topic This is a great source of information especially if you are wanting to be recognised for thought leadership in your area of expertise. You can follow just about any topic including: Marketing & Advertising, Management & Leadership, Social Media, Technology, Entrepreneurship There is article after article of incredible information once again providing a broader perspective on topics you're interested in.. 3. Publishers to keep up to date on top news from global and industry sources LinkedIn Publishers allows you to follow the LinkedIn Pages of Ted Talks, Harvard Business Review, Mashable, The Huffington Post and again the options go on. Once you've selected to follow them via your LinkedIn Profile, their latest news will be included in your feed. This allows you to receive current news from publishers that are specific to your industry and your interests. What I particularly love about LinkedIn Influencers is it's free, it's all in one place and I can access it when the time is right for me. As I mentioned I've written lots of blogs about LinkedIn. We've also created a lot of really useful tools to help people really make the most of the world's largest professional social media network.
